I’m going to be honest here. When I first heard about High Definition television becoming available through Dish Network, I was convinced it was just sales hype to sell us more TVs. And if you’ve never seen a program in ‘hi-def’, you may think the same thing. We’d both be wrong.

I saw the ads talking about how “real” the picture looks, but I just didn’t believe them. I know now it’s because I didn’t have an HDTV back then. Or an HD receiver. Or anything else connected with the words "high" and "definition."

That was before I happened to be walking by a TV display at a local store. My eyes landed on one screen that was so amazingly sharp and crystal-clear brilliant that I literally stopped in my tracks and stood watching, completely mesmerized. I remember thinking to myself, “So THAT’S what high definition looks like!” The difference was so glaringly obvious I felt rather stupid about my earlier opinion.

After that display I had pretty much made up my mind to go ahead and upgrade my Dish Network service so I could take advantage of the HD programming they offer. So the next time I’m at the computer, I go back to the only site I’ve found that I would recommend to anyone who wants to get a great deal on Dish Network HD. Click here to check it out . It’s where I learned everything I needed to know about Dish Network when I was first looking for a satellite TV system, and it's still the place I recommend for learning everything about Dish Network HD.

I was astonished at how much HD programming is available through Dish Network and the super deals they were offering at the time. They have 75 High Def channels and where it’s available, you can also get your favorite local channels in HD.

In order to enjoy to the maximum all the benefits of Dish Network’s HD programming, you need three things. Fortunately, Dish Network offers two of them. The first requirement is an HDTV, that is, a television designed to broadcast in high definition. They’re more affordable now than they’ve ever been, so it’s a good time to upgrade to an HDTV if you haven’t already.

The second thing you need is HD programming.  Dish Network leads their industry in the number of HD channels their subscribers are able to enjoy. Why settle for less?

Lastly, you must have an HD receiver. Which you can get from…you guessed it, that same place I mentioned above. And it's FREE! And I love the fact their receiver has a built in DVR. How did we ever get along without being able to pause and rewind live TV? The best part is that Dish Network gives you *two* HD receivers when you sign up as a subscriber! Check out this link again and you’ll find all the information you need to get started .

Dish Network’s HD programming packages are divided into four levels; Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. While the number of regular channels is different for each level, they all come with at least 25 HD channels.

The benefits of Dish Network’s high definition channels go beyond increased sharpness, color, depth and clarity. They’re seen in widescreen format with Dolby Digital audio to give you a surround sound experience. You really can’t imagine what you’re missing if you’re not watching Dish Network’s HD programming. When you sign up and finally get to see it, you’ll hate yourself for taking so long.
